Talkin' animals..

Well, I've been known to have my characters have pets with the ability to speak. Adhamh has Kathal(Tiger) and Conrí(Giant Gray Wolf). And I have another character with a talking Griffin. Though it has been brought to my attention (By our Supreme Overlord (Yar, this be a shout out.)) that speaking animals might be a bit outlandish..so yea. I'm fine them not being able to speak..but I want to know if it's allowed or not.

We had to have a brief discussion. This is a pretty good question! The answer isn't really a straight up yes or no.

The pets cannot talk to humans. They can, however, talk to each other. There is one exception though. The imps are able to talk to people, but that's because they're able to talk according to Mabinogi mythology. The catch is that imps can only talk to humans/elves/giants, but not other pets.

But what about the large wolf in the g3 armor quest?

We put him alongside Pan as a special exception. The large wolf isn't a pet so we decided to keep it as a no talking rule.

The G2 Giant White Wolf is also a spirit who you fight to prove yourself. We do not know if the wolf itself is speaking or if it is a form of non-verbal communication such as the methods employed by Morrighan.
